Albunuelas
Has two bars The Bar Careto in the main street on the left as you follow
the main street round a pronounced s bend (parking on the left hand side of the street) and in the first main square Los Tres Lindes on the right, diagonally opposite the entrance to the square. Both offer traditional
fare and are willing to prepare meals especially if sufficient notice is given.
Niguelas
Niguelas has at least seven bars including Bar Salvador owned by Lorenzo
of horse riding fame. It is just below the church in the main square and is popular with the locals. The Tapas is excellent
and free as in all bars in the area.
Bar Piolet
is the first bar on the way into Niguelas by car. The bar has
a mountaineering theme complete with husky dog.
There is a new restaurant open on the old road out to Durcal called The Alqueria
de los Lentos it is a beautifully restored and converted olive mill. The interior is all oak panels and beams with
garden terraces and gushing water channels outside. The menu is traditional, the quality is excellent and the service is genuine.
Pinos del Valle
The Bar Venecia has a great situation a terrace bar overlooking the village
with a huge palm offering shade. A great place for a relaxing beer and tapas.
There are several other bars and restaurants here.
Lecrin
Lecrin has a number of bars including a favourite Bar Nuevo owned by Amando
and his brother Fabi who also works there. The best tapas around, pints, big screen television for football and bull fighting,
pool table and dart board. This is a busy bar with the locals and several British residents use it as well.
Melegis
Los Naranjos
situated in Melegis is a great alfresco eatery with the fish
being particularly good. The bar even has its own label wine which is perfectly acceptable.
The spirit measures here are hugh- our head researcher can remember having a Ballantyne whisky there
which would have knocked a horse out and it was only 1 euro.
Conchar
Has a small bar/restaurant La Huertacilla which overlooks the gorge of
the rio Durcal has a very pleasant terrace and helpful staff. There is also a newly opened restaurant La
Madriguera in Calle Bajo in the centre of the village. Park on the outskirts of the village and walk in past the church
and turn right. It is run by an English couple and has great food.
Durcal
Durcal is the largest town in the valle de Lecrin and has the biggest choice of bars, restaurants
and other amenities.
Hotel Malami
in Durcal has a family run bar and restaurant with a nautical
theme- the Restaurante el Galeon. They have their own wine label too. The food is fine but the welcome is much better.
Restaurant Bodadilla
, also in Durcal is hidden away in a square off the main
street. This is a high quality restaurant, again good for fish.
Meson Bao Bad
around the Plaza de los Magnolios offers a large terrace area,
friendly staff and fast foodish menu including take away pizzas
Lanjaron
As you drive into this town the Hotel Paris is on the right. The food
