So you would like to to go on painting courses, what better location then in Andalucia in this beautiful
gem of a location called the Lecrin valley. Painting courses to suit your own ability in a relax atmosphere surrounded with
such beauty that brings out the passion with in you.

It’s always nice to know some background of the person who is about to teach you and encourage you
to this wonderful world of painting. We were first introduced to Jim when we were visiting my brother and we popped round
to say hello. We were greeted with a warm welcome and instantly felt his warm friendly, quite presence. We were shown some
of his paintings and our conversation as we left was how lovely his paintings were, so much so we went back and bought three
of his paintings. We are delighted that Jim has decided to come back to teaching and is willing to pass on his love for art
for those that share the same passion.
Jim Park
“I’m a man of few words and painting has
always been the best way of expressing myself.”
And express himself, he does! As a young student Jim was influenced
by impressionists and cubists, such as Van Gogh, Modigliani, Gaugin, Braque and Picasso. But, little by little, and with the
support of mentors such as Bill Russell, he learned to make his own statements.

Jim became a traveller and worked his way through countries and continents. Each place left an impression;
the austerity of his Scottish roots, the grandiose scenery of Australia, the loneliness of the Libyan desert, the sheer beauty
of Capetown, the striking architecture of Hamelin and York ….. And each impression became part of a jigsaw which has
made him the painter he is today.
However, the biggest part of that jigsaw is the Valley of Lecrín in Andalucía. His
painting, under the overwhelming influence of his new surroundings, has come alive and is bursting with vitality. The southern
Spanish light works an almost inconceivable magic on his palette and his paintings explode with vivid colours. The lush countryside,
with intricate patterns of citrus orchards and olive groves, has strengthened the design in Jim’s work. And this combination
of vibrant colour and design, together with the background music of Rodrigo and Manuel de Falla, has given birth to his trademark
‘patchwork’ paintings.
A crucial inspiration has been flamenco; for Jim a whole new world of raw emotion,
whirlwind energy and heart-tugging music. His paintings of ‘bailaoras’, with their sultry beauty and dramatic
movement, capture the very essence of Andalucía.
